Pernod Ricard joins the Road Safety Week 2022

Pernod Ricard and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) summarize their commitment to Dominican society to promote road safety by joining the National Institute of Traffic and Land Transportation (INTRANT) in the Road Safety Week to be held from from November 19 to 26 in Santo Domingo.
“At Pernod Ricard we believe that alcohol-related road accidents should never happen and can be prevented. Every year in the Dominican Republic, more than 3,000 lives are lost due to traffic accidents, a shocking figure that can be avoided. This is why we are proud to be part of the solution with the Driving and Sobriety Program in the Dominican Republic, under the leadership of INTRANT, initiated by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) with the support of Pernod Ricard . In order to change the behavior of the general population regarding driving under the influence of alcohol, we believe that education is the key and that is where our program comes to life”, says Helena Dionísio, Country Manager at Pernod Ricard Dominicana.
With the aim of contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals, the Driving and Sobriety Training Program is the result of a tripartite public-private partnership between INTRANT, UNITAR and Pernod Ricard, with the shared aim of supporting the reduction of injuries and deaths. by traffic accidents related to drivers under the influence of alcohol in the Dominican Republic, including raising awareness and sensitization of the population to increase their perception of risk on the roads.
“This training is fully digital, and consists of interesting educational tools such as an interactive online course on EdApp, as well as a practical experience on YouTube that includes the use of virtual reality glasses to experience the effects of drink driving,” he adds. During this week different activities have been programmed where the general public will be able to live the virtual reality experience in different locations, while university students will receive access to the entire program.
