Trump: “I have led the charge against the assault on the phrase ‘Merry Christmas'”

US President Donald Trump said today that he has “led the charge” against the “assault” on the phrase “Merry Christmas” and people are once again proud to say this “precious and beautiful phrase”.

“People are proud again to say ‘Merry Christmas’ again, I am proud to have led the charge against the assault on our precious and beautiful phrase, MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!”, said Trump on his Twitter account.

The president has insistently criticized the use of “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas” as a lack of respect for religious values, and has blamed the progressives of what, in his view, is a setback.

Since the conservative and evangelical movements, which are part of the Trump base, has been alerted about a supposed “war on Christmas” by secular sectors of society and politically correct.

On Sunday, in his traditional message to US troops deployed abroad, the president stressed that “we are saying ‘Merry Christmas’ again very, very proudly.”

Trump has lamented that the wave against Christmas was born during the two terms of his predecessor, Barack Obama (2009-2017), although the former president used the expression on a regular basis.

The US president is at his private residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, enjoying the Christmas holidays with his family.
