Santo Domingo will host the meeting of mayors from Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean

Santo Domingo has once again opened its doors to host the XXIX Meeting of Mayors of Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean and the LIII Session of the Executive Committee of the Union of Ibero-American Capital Cities (UCCI) on November 6, 7 and 8.

Today, regional integration plays a decisive role in the development of peoples and the awareness of their leaderships, it is also the transforming mechanism par excellence through cooperation, knowledge transfer and brotherhood between cities.

That is why the Union of Ibero-American Capital Cities (UCCI) promotes these regional meetings in order to encourage the development of the territories and their people.

The Mayor’s Office of the National District (ADN) reports that both meetings will bring together a large part of the socio-political leadership of Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula. The XXIX Meeting of Mayors will have as its articulating theme “Sustainable development: Quality of life and opportunities for all”, defined after having taken into account the common interests between cities that have been identified in the meetings of UCCI coordinators since the year 2021 .

Within the framework of the aforementioned topic, the mayors or representatives will speak briefly about the advances that have taken place in their cities in terms of walkability, stimulation of the orange economy and sustainable approach to informal commerce.

It is expected that each delegation can not only share its achievements, but also draw on the experiences of other cities, as well as be able to agree on a regional perspective and line of action for the next period.

These meetings will be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic, as confirmed by the District Mayor’s Office through a press release.
