The New York Mets officially announced that Robinson Canó will once again rock Citi Field in New York during his tribute game. Canó will be the subject of a special dedication to his career during a new edition of the baseball classic between the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico next Saturday, November 15.
In recognition of his extraordinary career and legacy, all Dominican national team players will wear the iconic number 24, the jersey that has accompanied Canó throughout his successful career.
Robinson Canó left an indelible mark with Hall of Fame-worthy numbers in Major League Baseball and established himself as an idol in the Big Apple. The second baseman’s 204 home runs with the Yankees between 2005 and 2013 place him in the franchise’s Top 20 all-time, surpassing legends like Roger Maris in that category. Additionally, his .309 batting average ranks ninth in that category in the Yankees’ 122-year history.
The atmosphere at Citi Field will be filled with excitement and symbolism, with Canó’s presence and the participation of two world baseball powers. The clash of baseball’s two greatest Caribbean rivals will replace the traditional All-Star Game between the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rican leagues.
Tickets are on sale now and begin July 24. Additional information will be provided as the event approaches.
