At least five police officers have been injured, one of them in critical condition, by the shots fired by an individual barricaded in a home in the US city of Phoenix, Arizona state.
The city’s police chief, Jeri Williams, has confirmed to the local CBS affiliate that the shooting started when someone inside the house deposited a baby near the front door.
Officers were shot as they approached to pick up the boy, Williams confirmed.
The crisis situation was declared around 02:00 in the morning, local time (10:00 in Spain) and has not yet ended, according to the authorities.
