Prosecutor seeks sentence of 4 to 10 months in prison to actress Felicity Huffman

WASHINGTON – Prosecutors are seeking a four to ten-month prison sentence for actress Felicity Huffman, who pleaded guilty along with a group of parents to participating in a scam to bribe her son’s admission into prestigious universities.

This was revealed today by CNN, citing legal sources familiar with the investigation, who detailed that Huffman, who participated in the series “Desperate Housewives”, is part of the group of 33 parents accused of participating in that plot.

The interpreter admitted on April 8 to have paid $ 15,000 to a fake charity to launder the bribe with which he intended to alter the examination of admission to the university of his daughter.

“I want to apologize to the students who work hard every day to enter college and with their parents who make enormous sacrifices to support their children and do it honestly,” said Huffman, who was nominated in 2005 for Best Actress Oscar for his role in “Transamerica.”

The artist stressed that her daughter knew nothing and considered that her desire to help her should not have led her to break the law.
Prosecutors and the actress have reached a plea agreement for which the prosecution will recommend the lower prison sentence, a $ 20,000 fine and 12 months supervised release, in exchange for not filing charges against her.

It will be a federal judge who will have the last word on Huffman’s sentence, who will have to return to court on May 21.
Another actress, Lori Loughlin, is also among the fathers and mothers accused of participating in this network that sought the entry of their children to universities such as Yale, Georgetown and the University of Southern California.

Unlike Huffman, Loughlin, known for his participation in the television series “Full House”, is not on the list of suspects who have decided to plead guilty.

Loughlin and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, allegedly agreed to pay bribes of $ 500,000.
On March 12, the Department of Justice unveiled a network of millionaire bribes paid by wealthy families (EFEUSA).
