Trump cancels his participation in the Economic Forum of Davos

President Donald Trump today finally canceled his participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, due to the political crisis in the country that has caused the partial closure of the federal Administration.

“Because of the Democrats’ lack of confidence in border security and the great importance of security for our nation, I respectfully cancel my very important trip to Davos,” Trump said on his Twitter account.

The suspension of the trip takes place on the twentieth day of partial closure of the Administration at his insistence that Congress approves funds for the construction of the controversial border wall with Mexico, and the frontal opposition by the Democrats, who control the House of Representatives.

Precisely, the president is traveling today to the southern border in Texas to reiterate the need for the border wall to the “humanitarian crisis” that in his opinion exists.
The inability to reach a pact between Democrats and Republicans on the federal budget has forced the partial paralysis of the Administration, which today fulfilled its 20th day.

In addition to various agencies that have had to suspend some of their functions due to lack of resources, about 420,000 employees considered essential have continued working without earning salary, while another 380,000 remain on leave, also without compensation, local media recalled.

Trump attended the exclusive global forum of Davos last year, where he defended his slogan “United States first”.

The White House had announced that along with the president was planned to travel to Switzerland much of his Cabinet, including the secretaries of the Treasury, Steven Mnuchin; State, Mike Pompeo, as well as his daughter and presidential adviser, Ivanka Trump, and his son-in-law and also adviser, Jared Kushner.
Now it remains to elucidate which part of the US delegation will maintain its trip to Davos.

The World Economic Forum will be held in that Swiss Alpine town between January 22 and 25 and in this edition will have as its main theme globalization in the era of the “fourth industrial revolution”, characterized by phenomena such as artificial intelligence, nanotechnology or the acceleration of the robotic industry.
