Health technology and patient services set trends at CES 2019

One of the innovations that stood out in this field was the Samsung Bot Care, a small and friendly robot for the home with a screen with eyes and moves driven by wheels whose mission is to ensure that its owner and his entire family are in good health, explained the head of the artificial intelligence center of the South Korean company, Gary Lee.

The user can call the robot by voice commands at any time and ask him, for example, to take his vital signs and heart rate, something for which it is only necessary to put a finger on a sensor integrated in Bot Care.

Among other things, the robot is also capable of monitoring sleep cycles, reminding the user of the hours and amounts of medication, giving advice on physical exercise, calling emergency services if necessary and offering music therapy to reduce stress levels.

Bot Care can be controlled remotely, which for example would allow a child to follow in detail and with information instantly the health of their parents if they are already older and live alone.

Apart from the big brands, dozens of startups specialized in health also showed their products and services at CES exhibitors, such as Spire, a small company in San Francisco (California, USA) that has created sensors that Adhere to the underwear.

Another of the startups dedicated to health that exhibited their product today at CES was the Chinese Sleepace, based in Shenzhen (China) and that monitors the sleep cycle in babies and seniors to ensure that these rest the hours your body needs and that they do it in the best possible way.

“We use a flat strip equipped with sensors that is located across the bed on the mattress and under the sheets and that is practically imperceptible for the person who is sleeping,” the company’s head of development Baiyang Zhuang told Efe. .

Sleepace collects data, analyzes it and makes recommendations in relation to, for example, body posture or firmness of the mattress with respect to the person who is using it.

It also monitors heart rate, breathing, movement and alerts parents immediately if the baby spends more than 15 seconds without breathing.
