University of Florida cancels graduation ceremony for “credible threat”

Florida Atlantic University (FAU) today canceled its graduation ceremony scheduled for this afternoon in Boca Raton and ordered the evacuation of its students in the face of a shooting threat, the center itself reported on its social networks.

Shortly before the University will begin the graduation ceremony on its main campus, in the aforementioned city of South Florida, its authorities decided to cancel the event after the police authorities determined a “credible threat” on campus, as reported by FAU in your Twitter account.

According to the local WPTV channel, a university source said that just as the ceremony was about to begin, a note was found in a bathroom that threatened a shooting at the graduation, organized for students of Medicine, Nursing and Science.

“We understand how disappointed our students should be that the final graduation ceremony today has been canceled, we will try to make sure they receive the recognition they deserve,” said the institution’s president, John Kelly.
