Dominican Republic lurks the semifinals and shows you the exit to Mexico

The Cibaeñas Eagles of the Dominican Republic are approaching the semifinals of the Caribbean Series by beating Cuba and in passing they showed the start of the tournament to the Tomateros de Culiacán from Mexico who said goodbye to the competition they hosted in this capital .

In the first game of the day, the Puerto Rican Caguas Criollos beat the Venezuelan Caribs of Anzoategui 12-7 and with that result both secured a place in the semifinals. In the second game Dominican took the bats on time and beat Cuba 7-1.

The results left Puerto Rico, Cuba and the Dominican Republic, which tomorrow plays against Mexico, in first, second and third place, respectively, with a 2-1 record, while Venezuela finished fourth with 2-2 and the local team appeared with 0-3 in the fifth and last position, but already without possibilities.

Mexico expected a Dominican defeat, which did not occur and went without penalty or glory of a tournament in which he had been in the last five finals, from 2013 to 2017, with three championships and two runners-up.

Tomorrow in a mere procedural match, Mexico will try to close the tournament in a dignified manner although there is also the possibility that it will go without a win in four games.

This Tuesday, in the fifth and final day of the preliminary stage, Cuba will face Puerto Rico in the first game and at night Mexico, already eliminated, will play against the Dominican Republic, while Venezuela will rest.

The result of both games will determine the positions of the first to fourth place and the duels that will occur in the semifinals, on Wednesday, whose winners will star in the final next Thursday.
