A young pregnant woman stabbed her pitbull after the animal attacked another dog and members of her family in western Florida, according to local newspapers.
The incident, which occurred on Friday afternoon in Safety Harbor, west of the city of Tampa, left a mother and two daughters with injuries, some deep but not posing a serious risk, by dog bites, called Buster, of according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
Police officers who responded to the warning call for the dog’s attacks found the dead animal in the front yard, and the women had to be moved to local medical centers.
According to the police unit, the incident began when the dog, which was aggressively used to being in a separate room, began attacking another pit bull in the house.
Heidi Cooper, 45, and her 14-year-old daughter, Meaghan Tokay, went to separate the animals but Buster turned on them and bit them numerous times, leaving both with injuries to their limbs, especially the mother.
It was at that moment that Sierra Willson, 22, and another daughter of Cooper, came to the aid of the women and stabbed the animal several times, who died shortly afterwards of the wounds.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, Willson will give birth in seven weeks and had a total of three pit bulls in the house.
