Fowler continues to hit home runs and punishes the Reds

Defender Dexter Fowler homered for the third time in a row and the St. Louis Cardinals made another 9-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds.

The win allows the Cardinals (79-72) to gain ground from a game in the competition before the leaders of the NL Central.

The San Luis Novena also comes close to the Milwaukee Brewers and the Colorado Rockies in the NL wild card competition.

Fowler (18) hit four-cornered toletazo in the third episode with a runner ahead.

First baseman Matt Carpenter (21) and short innkeeper Paul DeJong (24) also hit home runs for the Cardinals.

The win was for starter Luke Weaver (7-1) in five innings, conceding five hits and two runs.

For the Reds, defeated starter Rookie Davis (1-3) in three innings, with five hits, three homers and five runs.
