Mexico continues unstoppable in the XXIII Central American and Caribbean Games to harvest on Wednesday twelve golds on the seventh day of the regional games and beat by 29 to Colombia and 37 to Cuba.
Sports such as racquetball, shooting, diving, track cycling, swimming and sailing were the ones that gave the Mexicans the golden shine today.
In the women’s individual raquetbol won the number one in the world, Paola Longoria, and male Daniel de la Rosa. In addition, Mexico won the doubles final in both branches.
The Mexican standard-bearer Alejandra Zavala and fourth in Rio 2016 gave her delegation the gold in the 25m pistol women.
Iván García and Isaac Villarreal, in synchronized platform 10m; and Carolina Mendoza, in 3m springboard, stood out in the diving.
In track cycling she won the title Jessica Salazar in 500m against the clock, the sail gave her the championship in the women’s radial laser and swimming closed with a gold clasp in the 200m breaststroke with Miguel de Lara and won the relay 4x100m combined in both branches.
Colombia, on the other hand, reached gold in karate, with Andrés Rendón in up to 60kg; in track cycling in omnium with Edwin Ávila and in swimming with Isabella Arcila.
Five golds reached Cuba on Wednesday and remains in third place in the medal table.
Jorge Grau, in shot, gave him the gold medal in the 10m men’s air pistol and the island also won in the same modality per team as in 25m pistol women team.
In Cali, the Cuban delegation shone in the women’s madison and Marlies Mejías was crowned champion in the individual pursuit of track cycling.
Dominican Republic also hung five golds in this day: defeated after the midnight in women’s volleyball to Colombia with a score of 55-75 to climb to the top of the podium.
Likewise, she won the women’s handball final by defeating Puerto Rico 29-25 and reigned in the karate with Deivis Ferreras, in the men’s category up to 67kg; with Ana Villanueva, in up to 50kg and with María Dimitrova in individual kata.
Two golds went to Venezuela with Antonio Díaz, in the karate in individual kata, and with Génesis Navarrete, in women up to 55kg.
Puerto Rico won two gold medals. One in the swim with Kristen Romano in 200m back and the second in the open snipe mode.
The sail, meanwhile, gave Guatemala two golds in the open sunfish categories and in the open 16 hobie cat.
