The Florida LGBTA Democratic Caucus, an arm of the Florida Democratic Party representing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Democrats, endorsed Congressman Soto. Soto is proud to stand with the LGBT community in Central Florida and across the State.
LGBTA Caucus President Terry Fleming said, “Darren Soto has been a strong and active supporter of the LGBT community, and our endorsement of him underscores his commitment to our issues. We appreciate his willingness to listen to his constituents and work to ensure equality for all Floridians.
Soto said, “I’m honored to have the support of the LGBTA Caucus. Its leaders and members are some of the most effective, dynamic, and passionate Democrats in the State, and their support has been invaluable to me over the years. In Tallahassee, I drafted a birth certificate equality bill so all loving couples could be recognized as parents. After the horrible attack at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, I stood arm-in-arm with LGBT leaders to push for gun safety reform.
In Congress, I’m playing defense because LGBT rights are under attack. President Trump and the GOP want to drag us backward – to allow discrimination in commerce and the workplace, cut health care rights, and attack our transgender friends especially. We can’t let this happen. Together with the LGBTA Caucus and other allies, we must and we will keep fighting until full equality is won!”
