The Institute of Studies and Development for Peace (Indepaz) has denounced the murder of Carlos Andrés Bustos Cortés, a former combatant of the now defunct guerrilla Force Alternative Revolutionary of the Common (FARC) signatory of the peace agreement, in the municipality of Puerto Asís, located in the Colombian department of Putumayo.
According to the information provided by Indepaz, Bustos was traveling on a motorcycle with a woman when he was intercepted by armed groups, who shot him. As a result, another person has been injured, has transferred the body through his account on the social network Twitter.
The former combatant was assigned to the Union for Protection program but, at that time, he lacked security because he had reported that he would not move during the day.
With the death of Bustos, there are already 262 ex-combatants in the process of reincorporation to civilian life who have lost their lives violently after the signing of the peace agreement. So far in 2021 there have been 13, according to Indepaz.
