Israel resumes attacks in Lebanon with strikes leaving six dead, including a soldier

Fresh Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon have killed at least six people since 9:00 a.m. today—including a soldier—as the offensive continues, threatening to derail the delicate preliminary peace agreement reached last Sunday between the United States and Iran, the key backer of the Shiite Hezbollah militias clashing with the Israeli army.

In a statement confirming the soldier’s death, the Lebanese Army condemned the ongoing “savage Israeli aggression in the southern areas” that has persisted since this morning. During this latest escalation, the Israeli army has struck “wide areas, reaching as far as the Bekaa Valley,” and one of these attacks killed a Lebanese soldier on the road between Kfar Remane and Nabatiye.

“It has become evident that the continued Israeli aggression aims to obstruct any solution that would restore stability in Lebanon,” the Lebanese Army stated.

The official Lebanese news agency, NNA, reported that another Israeli strike killed four members of the same family—including two children—in the town of Berish. Additionally, one person died in a strike on the town of Arabsalim that destroyed a building and buried seven people in the rubble; their condition remains unknown.

The NNA also reported further airstrikes in the towns of Kfar Remman, Haboush, Nabatieh al-Fawqa, Shoukin, Zibdine, and Kfarjouz, though there is currently no information regarding casualties in those locations.
