Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, one of Donald Trump’s key legislative supporters during his first term and, at its height, a pillar of the MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement, has stated that the president’s recent criticism following their falling out could endanger her life.
Trump withdrew his support for Greene on Friday and called her a “traitor,” to which Greene responded on Sunday that he is “completely wrong.” “Those are the kinds of words that can radicalize people against me and put my life in danger,” Greene declared in an interview on CNN.
Greene indicated that all the criticism “has to do with the Epstein case,” referring to her support for the full release of documents related to the prostitution ring led by the late businessman Jeffrey Epstein and his ties to the US president.
Greene has criticized Trump and opposed actions such as the bombing of Iran and the government’s healthcare policy during the shutdown caused by the parliamentary impasse.
He has also signed a petition, along with four other House Republicans, to force a vote ordering the Justice Department to release documents related to Epstein.
