US revokes Gustavo Petro’s visa for “inciting” US soldiers to disobey Trump

The US State Department has announced it will revoke the visa of Colombian President Gustavo Petro after the Latin American leader called on US Army soldiers to disobey US President Donald Trump.

“Early today (Friday), Colombian President Gustavo Petro stood on a New York City street and urged US soldiers to disobey orders and incite violence. We will revoke Petro’s visa due to his reckless and incendiary actions,” the State Department said in a message on its X social media account.

The Colombian leader participated this Friday in a pro-Palestinian demonstration that took place in New York, coinciding with the 80th UN General Assembly. At this march—in which he was present alongside Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters—Petro addressed US soldiers, urging them not to obey orders.

“I ask all soldiers of the United States Army not to point their rifles at humanity. Disobey Trump’s order. Obey humanity’s order,” he said through a megaphone to the crowd gathered in the streets of the US city.

During the day, Petro also declared that he will try to push through a resolution to form a “salvation army” to go to the Gaza Strip to fight for the Palestinians. In this regard, he will open a list of Colombian volunteers who want to go and fight, including himself.

“And as happened in the First World War, I want the young people, children of workers in both Israel and the United States, to point their rifles not at humanity, but at tyrants and fascists,” the Colombian politician concluded.
