US President Donald Trump will meet with his cabinet at the White House this Wednesday to discuss managing the post-conflict Gaza Strip, despite the Israeli blockade of talks for a ceasefire agreement in the Palestinian enclave.
This was announced by US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff during an interview with Fox News, in which he said it will be a “great meeting” and asserted that Washington has a “very comprehensive plan” for the Palestinian enclave.
“I think a lot of people will see how solid and well-intentioned it is. And it reflects President Trump’s humanitarian motives,” he added, without providing further details.
Witkoff also stated that in Washington, “we believe we’re going to resolve this one way or another, certainly before the end of this year,” claiming that both sides have shown their “willingness to continue the talks,” although Israeli authorities have expressed their rejection of the proposal for a ceasefire and phased release of hostages put forward by Qatar and Egypt, which the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has agreed to.
