Bukele assures that he could fix the increase in violence in Haiti

The president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, has assured that he could fix the increase in violence that has been experienced in Haiti in recent weeks.

“We can fix it,” the president wrote on his account on the social network X, formerly Twitter, responding to a publication that shows the difficult situation in Haiti.

“But we will need a resolution from the UN Security Council, the consent of the host country and all the expenses of the mission to cover,” he added in the same message.

In recent weeks, Port-au-Prince (Haiti’s capital) has once again been the scene of an increase in violence between gangs vying for control of the capital, after 4,500 prisoners managed to escape from the city’s main prison, last weekend.

One of the country’s great criminal leaders, Jimmy Chérizier, alias ‘Barbecue’, has this week launched an attack on the Prime Minister, Ariel Henry, whom he has threatened to plunge the country into a “civil war” if he does not present his resignation in amid a scenario of absolute chaos given the domination of the gangs over Port-au-Prince and its surroundings, consolidated after the assassination in 2021 of President Jovenel Moise.
