Access Granted

When you are watching a movie and need to get through using a password, once the code is typed, the words Access Granted (usually in green) pop up. Now, whatever needs to be done is possible – in general, it has to do with opening a door. What does it have to do with the topic? Everything. Evangelism is the password to get into discipleship.

In the words of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a revered theologian and pastor, “The Church is the Church only when it exists for others.” These words resonate deeply, reminding us that the Church’s and its followers’ purpose is not to remain insular and self-focused. Instead, its true calling lies in its outward orientation, reaching out to the world beyond its walls and touching the lives of those who are yet to discover the transformative power of Jesus’ teachings.

To live as faithful disciples of Jesus, we must transcend the boundaries of our congregation and embrace a broader perspective. We must recognize that our spiritual journey is not solely about personal salvation but also about uplifting and guiding others along the path of righteousness. We deepen our understanding of Jesus’ teachings by extending our reach beyond ourselves. People will begin to see Jesus in our own lives.

In this fast-paced, interconnected world, we have countless opportunities to fulfill our roles as disciples. Through social media, community outreach programs, and genuine connections with others, we can extend the transformative power of Jesus’ message to individuals who may never step foot inside a church. That’s why evangelism is the crucial motivation for discipleship growth. Through this selfless act of living out His teachings, we fulfill our calling as disciples and experience personal growth. Remember Bonhoeffer’s words as a guiding light, always striving to exist for others and make a meaningful impact. Also, Bonhoeffer’s: “Action springs not from thought, but from a readiness for responsibility.”
