Mike Pence responds to possible Trump arrest: “No one is above the law”

Republicans and former Trump allies speak out on the possible arrest of the former US president

Former Vice President of the United States Mike Pence has expressed that “no one is above the law”, after being asked about the possible arrest of former President Donald Trump in the framework of the investigation against him for the alleged payment of a bribe to the actress. from porn film Stephanie Clifford, known as Stormy Daniels.

“I am convinced that President Trump will manage,” Pence added, in statements collected by ‘The Hill’, in addition to expressing his concern over Trump’s call for the mobilization of his followers: “We respect the right of Americans to be heard and express their frustrations over what appears to be politically motivated persecution.

“But we want to send a clear message that violence will not be tolerated, and anyone who engages in violent actions will be prosecuted by law,” he added.

Despite his comments, he has stressed his disagreement with the possible arrest, suggesting that “the idea of impeaching a former president of the United States” worries him “deeply.”

PEOPLE CLOSE TO THE FORMER PRESIDENT OPINION ABOUT THE POSSIBLE ARREST
Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, who has already shown his willingness to testify in the Stormy Daniels case, has stated that this new “war cry” from his former client is very similar to the one he issued prior to the riots on September 6. January at the US Capitol.

“It would have been smart of Donald to write ‘peaceful protest,’ but he doesn’t want a peaceful protest, he wants another violent riot in his name,” he told MSNBC.

On the other hand, the leader of the United States House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, has published in a Twitter message his support for the former president and his rejection of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, in charge of the investigation: “Here we are again –a stunning abuse of power by a radical district attorney letting violent criminals get away while he pursues political vendetta against President Trump.”

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has also sent a message assuring that Trump will “gain even more” than he already was going to if the arrest goes through, threatening Republicans who support the arrest: “They will be exposed in front of the people and They will be remembered, ridiculed and punished by the grassroots.”

Another of the Republicans who supports Trump for his re-election in 2024, James David (JD) Vance, asked if he would withdraw his endorsement in case he was finally arrested, replied: “Hell no, a persecution motivated by political reasons only makes Trump’s case stronger.”
