MITUR begins reconstruction of the access road to Macao Beach, in Verón, Punta Cana

The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, began work on the reconstruction of the access road to Macao Beach, in this tourist hub, with an investment of some 36 million pesos.

The project, which is carried out through the MITUR’s Executing Committee for Tourist Area Infrastructures (CEIZTUR), consists of upgrading a 1.2 km road along El Macao street, from the Higüey-Macao highway, to the access that leads to the beach, in the municipal district of Verón, Punta Cana.

The Minister of Tourism stated that with this intervention an old claim of the residents of this tourist pole is addressed and said that the work will have a great economic impact among small and medium-sized entrepreneurs.

“For us, the most important thing in small works like this is the impact they have on the people who work here. It is to directly improve their income, which is reflected in a better quality of life for them and their families. That is the human face of Tourism”, he pointed out.

Within the scope of the reconstruction of the access road to Macao Beach are: recovery of the road structure, placement of asphalt wearing course, construction of sidewalks and curbs, creation of storm drainage with a system of scuppers and filter wells, landscaping , signaling and creation of green areas.

The intervention proposal consists of a standard section of two circulation lanes of 3.00m each, placement of asphalt layer, formation of sidewalks, containers as part of the solution that make up the longitudinal drainage, strip for planters 1.50m wide on the side left, wooded roblillo and ground cover.

In addition to Minister Collado, the event was attended by Ramón Ramírez (Manolito), Mayor of Verón; Daniel Hernández, vice president of the Dreams hotel; Aracelis Valdez, from the Macao Merchants Association and Frederick González, president of the Safaris and Buggy Association.

Also, the vice ministers of MITUR; Minoru Matsunaga, director of the Tourist Police (POLITUR); Gabriel Español Seijas, director of CEIZTUR; local and municipal authorities, among other personalities.
