INDRHI reports fluctuations in prey levels; announces meeting for the rationalization of water in Sabana Yegua

The National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INDRHI) reported that the reservoirs of MonciĆ³n, Sabaneta and the Tavera-Bao complex show an increase in their water levels due to recent rainfall in the upper basins of the rivers that supply them. The agency reported that Sabana Yegua, on the other hand, continues to decline, presenting this week a drop of one meter in the level of its reservoir, attributed to the lack of rain in the basin of that hydraulic infrastructure.

Regarding the situation in Sabana Yegua, Olmedo Caba Romano, executive director of INDRHI, reported that a meeting was held in Barahona with the Yaque del Sur River Operations Committee, where they will socialize proposals for the distribution of the liquid in this important productive area of ā€‹ā€‹the country, due to the reduction of water availability in the dam.

The official indicated that said committee is made up of the Irrigation Boards of Tamayo, Neyba, DuvergƩ, Lago Enriquillo and Valle de Azua. He indicated that, in addition, representatives of the Central Sugar Consortium and authorities of the region will participate. It will be held at the premises of the Dominican College of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors (CODIA) of Barahona.

Meanwhile, the person in charge of the INDRHI Irrigation Division, Luis Cuevas, specified that the meeting with the Yaque del Sur River Operations Committee responds to a routine line of action as INDRHI protocol when the dams are lowered, where they agree measures to guarantee supply to the different users.

The meeting of the National Water Observatory, where information on the availability of water in the dams is offered, is held on Wednesdays. It is chaired by the hydraulic body and is also made up of the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewerage Corporation (CAASD), the National Institute of Potable Water and Sewerage (INAPA), the Dominican Hydroelectric Generation Company (EGEHID) and the Ministries of Defense. and of Agriculture.
