Olmedo Caba Romano, executive director of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INDRHI), will offer a keynote speech on “Comprehensive Management of Water Resources, Yuna – Camú Basin”, within the framework of the 2nd Congress of “Engineering and Architecture Water + Society = Life “sponsored by the Universidad Católica Nordestana (UCNE) at its facilities in the main municipality of this province, San Francisco de Macorís, from Friday, June 10 at 6:00 p.m. and scheduled to conclude on Saturday 11 at 6:00 p.m. :00 in the afternoon.
The academic conclave, dedicated to the engineer Rafael Antonio Fernández Valerio, will bring together engineering professionals, experts in water issues and students at the facilities of this High House of Studies. It will also feature presentations by prominent INDRHI officials such as the Environmental adviser, Juan Fulvio Ureña, who will speak on the “Hydraulic use of the Boba River”; Juan Francisco Saldaña, director of Planning and Institutional Development, who will address “The social impact of water”, and Rafael Núñez Ovalles, expert in Operational Applications of Drones in Engineering, will address the topic of “Use of drones applied to hydrology”.
It should be noted that INDRHI and UCNE work within an inter-institutional agreement that promotes, from this important study center in the Duarte province, the training of professionals with a view to generating scientific and technological capacities.
During Caba Romano’s management in front of INDRHI, important operational work has been carried out focused on cleaning and maintenance of hydraulic works. In addition, the formulation of a comprehensive management plan for water resources in the Yuna river basin, whose objective is to guarantee optimal use of the water resources available in the demarcation, is highlighted.
