In order to celebrate the national holiday of the Italian Republic, the Italian Embassy in the country will hold a massive event for the whole family, which will bring together the best of this exquisite culture.
Scheduled for Saturday, June 4, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., at the Ozama Fortress facilities in the Colonial city, the event will emulate Italian town festivals, where there will be dance music, entertainment for the little ones in the house, food and drink that the participating public can purchase.
This event highlights the importance of celebrating its National holiday with Italian families and descendants, residents throughout the Dominican Republic, and those who wish to delve deeper into their culture, according to the directions of its Ambassador in the country, Stefano Queirolo Palmas, who will be participating in the activity in the company of different attachés of the diplomatic mission and with the presence of the Carabinieri and the Guardia de Finanza in their uniforms.
The meeting will start with a children’s show and an area for children to enjoy attractions and tastings of soft drinks, popcorn, Ferrero brand chocolates, cotton candy. The agenda includes the presentation of the group La Sergio Laccone Band, made up of Italian and Dominican musicians, which will play Italian songs fused with Dominican rhythms. Also, thanks to the support of the Directorate General for Cinema, the classic Italian film “Divorzio all’Italiana” will be screened.
In addition, with a stage in the port of San Souci, and with the naked eye from the Ozama fortress, the first training ship of the Dominican Navy will be anchored, named in honor of the Italian founder of the Dominican Navy and national hero of this country, “Admiral Juan Bautista Cambiaso”, as another of the attractions of this first meeting.
At seven o’clock at night, the Ambassador, accompanied by his wife Ornella, and the high authorities of the Dominican government, will sing the hymns of both countries and have their speeches. The idea of the event is to celebrate the feast of the Italian Republic while having fun and not limiting itself to protocol, but rather involving the Italian community living in the Dominican Republic to celebrate its roots and, in addition, unite the oldest Italian colonies of immigrants tradition (end of the 800) and the immigrants of the last 20 years.
With free admission for the public, there will also be a raffle, for participants who arrive before 7 at night, for two weekends at the Eco Del Mar hotel in Bahía de las Águilas, one weekend for a couple at Tracadero, excursions to the Saona and Catalina islands by Alamos Travel, baskets of Italian products from Dispensa Gourmet, Italian Market and Special Foods and other surprises. This event is sponsored by ACEA Dominicana, Domicem, Diario Libre and Viva Whyndham Resorts.
The event, in addition to the general public, will be attended by accredited diplomats in the country, members of the Foreign Ministry, government officials and special guests.
