Russia has denounced the interference of the United States in the internal affairs of Cuba as shown by the “incendiary” statements that some of its senior officials have launched on the eve of the mobilizations against the island’s government scheduled for this Monday.
In a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Russia recalled how “senior officials of the United States and their representatives in Havana” have been encouraging through their statements to reverse the constitutional order in Cuba.
The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, pointed out Moscow, “has made an incendiary public statement” in this regard, which is “another example of interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign State.”
“We condemn such actions. Those who plan provocations against Cuba should not forget the rejection by the international community of the US blockade imposed more than six decades ago,” says the text.
Finally, Moscow emphasizes that “within the framework of the close and friendly relationship” it maintains with Cuba, it will continue to provide the island with “all kinds of assistance.”
This Monday, new protests against the Government of Cuba have been called, despite the fact that the organizers have been warned of the legal consequences they face if they continue to encourage mobilizations that have not been authorized by the authorities.
