The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, has ordered the creation of a communal defensive system to “strengthen the territorial defense” of the Caribbean country.

As reported by the Venezuelan presidential press office on its Twitter account, the new system will be led by the Bolivarian National Militia, as a complementary part of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), and will be a “fundamental arm” of the defense of Venezuela.
