Trump prepares a new battery of pardons for his last day as president, according to media

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, finalizes a new battery of up to one hundred pardons that will announce on Tuesday, his last full day as president, according to sources cited by various media and that collect the details of a meeting held on Sunday at the White House .

Trump, who has already issued pardons against several people around him in recent months, planned to space out his latest pardons, but the assault on the Capitol on January 6 disrupted his plans and now provides for a single batch that will be made public in principle on Tuesday reports CNN.

The sources consulted by this chain do not foresee that Trump himself will appear on the list, who has on several occasions slipped the possibility of amnesty himself for prevention. The debate on self-pardon has become topical again after the assault on Congress, which has already earned the president the start of his second impeachment trial for “incitement to insurrection.”

His advisers believe that Trump will not take this step and would have even advised him against the possibility that he appears guilty. Likewise, several people have urged him to leave out of the last pardons people who participated in the assault on the Capitol during the session to certify the results of the November elections.

Trump faces the final stretch of his term, since the winner of these elections, Democrat Joe Biden, will take office on Wednesday. The current president, who has repeatedly denounced – and without evidence – electoral fraud, will not attend the investiture of his successor.
