The pandemic adds more than 536,000 new cases and exceeds 47 million infections worldwide

The US breaks a record with more than 88,000 new cases and advances towards 9 million infected

The coronavirus pandemic originating in the Chinese city of Wuhan has registered more than 536,000 new cases worldwide in the last 24 hours, which is the second highest daily figure in the entire historical series and brings the total to more than 45 million of infected people and 1.18 million fatalities, according to the balance published this Friday by Johns Hopkins University.

In total, 45,107,107 people have contracted the virus, of which more than half are in the three most affected countries – the United States, India and Brazil – while the fatalities are already 1,182,282.

With regard to recoveries, more than 30.3 million people have already managed to overcome COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the virus. India tops the list, with more than 7.37 million cured patients.

The United States continues to be the country most affected worldwide by the pandemic, with 8.94 million infected people and 228,675 fatalities, after breaking the daily record of infections with more than 88,500 new cases since the previous balance.

India, for its part, already exceeds 8 million infected people with 121,090 fatalities after registering more than 48,000 positives in the last day, followed by Brazil, with 5.49 million infected and 158,969 deaths, including more than 26,000 new cases in the last day.

In the fourth position, Russia accumulates 1.58 million cases and 27,462 deaths after registering more than 17,000 cases in the last day. The fifth place is occupied by France, with more than 1.32 million cases and 36,058 deaths after adding more than 47,000 positives.

For its part, Spain remains the sixth country hardest hit by the pandemic, with 1.16 million cases and 35,639 deaths. In Argentina there are 1.14 million infected people and 30,442 fatalities.

It is followed by Colombia, which accounts for 1.04 million infected and 30,926 deaths and the United Kingdom accumulates 968,456 cases and 46,045 deaths after adding more than 23,000 infections in the last 24 hours.

The balance of the pandemic in Mexico stands at 912,811 cases and 90,773 fatalities. Next, Peru counts 897,594 infected people and 34,362 deaths. South Africa, the country most affected by the pandemic in the entire African continent, registers 721,770 cases and 19,164 deaths.

With the record of more than 26,000 positives in the last day, Italy exceeds the threshold of 600,000 infections, with a total of 616,595 infected people and 38,122 deaths. Over 500,000 cases, Iran registers 596,941 cases and 34,113 fatalities, ahead of Chile, which accumulates 507,050 infections and 14,118 deaths, and Germany, with 506,381 positives and 10,359 deaths.

With more than 400,000 positives are Iraq, with 467,755 positives and 10,815 fatalities; Indonesia, which accounts for 406,945 cases and 13,782 deaths from COVID-19; and Bangladesh, with 406,364 infections and 5,905 deaths.

Already in the range of 300,000 infections are Belgium (392,258 positive); Ukraine (390,272); Philippines (378,933); Turkey (370,832); Saudi Arabia (346,482); Poland (340,834); Netherlands (336,629); Pakistan (332,186); Israel (313,590) and the Czech Republic (310,068).

In the range of 200,000 to 300,000 infections are Canada (231,383), Romania (229,040) and Morocco (212,038).

Above the 100,000 positives are Ecuador (166,302); Nepal (164,718); Switzerland (145,044); Bolivia (141,484); Portugal (132,616); Qatar (132,150); Panama (132,045); United Arab Emirates (130,336); Dominican Republic (125,913); Kuwait (124,666); Sweden (121,167); Oman (114,434); Kazakhstan (111,492); Costa Rica (105,570); Egypt (107,209); Guatemala (106,790); and Japan (100,153).

China, the country where the pandemic originated, has 91,299 infected and 4,739 fatalities.
