Coronavirus approaches 3.5 million infections and 244,000 deaths worldwide

The worldwide coronavirus pandemic has already left a total of approximately 3,428,425 infections and the number of deaths is 243,832, according to the balance updated to this Sunday by the American Johns Hopkins University.

Once again, the United States continues to be the global epicenter of the pandemic, with a growth rate of 30,000 cases per day and already above 1,133,000 positives. The death toll is 66,385, while in New York City alone, fatalities are 18,491.

Thus, the United States is by far the most affected country of the 187 in which cases of Covid-19 have already been detected, the disease associated with the virus that originated in 2019 in the Chinese city of Wuhan. Spain is in second place, with 216,582 infections and 25,100 deaths, ahead of Italy – 209,328 infected and 28,710 dead -, always according to data from the University of Baltimore.

The United Kingdom, which dramatically increased its death toll this week after including those who lost their lives outside of hospitals, has so far recorded 28,131 deaths, while the number of positives is 183,500.

The United Kingdom has overtaken France, where 168,518 cases and 24,729 deaths have been confirmed, and Germany, which now has 164,967 positives and 6,812 deaths, according to this balance, although after confirming a significant daily decrease in both sections in recent days. China, origin of the disease, appears in this list in the eleventh position, for its 84,000 infected and 4,600 deaths, already with the spread of the virus very contained in the Asian giant.

Canada, for its part, is about to exceed 58,000 infections and 3,684 deaths – while Belgium approaches 50,000 cases after accumulating some 49,517 positives and more than 7,700 deaths. Peru and the Netherlands have more than 40,000 infections – 42,534 and 1,200 deaths and 40,434 cases and 5,003 deaths – and only India is in the spectrum of 30,000 cases with 39,980 cases and 1,323 deaths after registering, like Russia, another daily maximum of infections this Saturday.

LESS THAN 30,000 CASES
Switzerland, Ecuador, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, Mexico, Sweden and Ireland have exceeded 20,000 infected. For their part, Pakistan, Chile, Singapore, Israel, Belarus, Austria, Qatar, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Poland, Romania, Ukraine, Indonesia and South Korea have more than 10,000 infected each.

Denmark and Serbia have accounted for more than 9,000 cases, and the Philippines and Bangladesh have more than 8,000. Norway, the Czech Republic, the Dominican Republic, Colombia and Panama have given more than 7,000 positives, while Australia, South Africa, Egypt, Malaysia and Finland are listed below in the balance sheet prepared by the university, all of them with more than 5,000 cases of Covid-19. .
