Google has carried out a name change in its Hangouts Meet video calling service, which is now known only as Google Meet, in which it has also introduced new functions to improve security in its educational use.

In the last official publication, the American company refers to the service only as Google Meet, eliminating the Hangouts name that it used until now, coming from Google’s chat service.

In addition, this video calling service has introduced new functions to improve security for students and teachers during the current situation of confinement due to the coronavirus.

In this way, only callers can silence or delete other participants and approve access requests made by external users. It is also not possible to rejoin a call after the last participant has left it.
