Citizen support for impeachment against Trump grows

A majority of citizens are in favor of the Congress initiating a political trial against the president of the United States, Donald Trump, for which public appearances have already started in the House of Representatives, according to a poll published on Monday.

The survey, by Ipsos for ABC News, sets the proportion of citizens favorable for the ball to pass to the roof of the Senate and Trump is removed from office. Six out of ten advocate for the political trial to be held, but without the Senate expelling the president.

One in four, on the other hand, believe that Trump did nothing wrong, as the president himself says. The White House tenant believes that everything is a “fraud” fruit of a “witch hunt” led by the Democratic Party, which controls the House of Representatives.

70 percent of respondents believe that Trump did cross a line by pressuring his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodimir Zelenski, for Ukrainian authorities to investigate possible irregularities committed by former vice president Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

Trump said Monday on Twitter that he would be willing to testify before congressmen. “Although I have not done anything wrong and I do not like to give credibility to this fraud, I like the idea and I will study it seriously, with the aim of making Congress focus again,” he said.
