The Colombian band Chocquibtown announces tour “Pa ‘Olvidarte” for the country

The Colombian group ChocQuibTown will begin on August 2 in Miami its first US tour titled “Pa ‘Olvidarte”, which will take it to eight other cities in the country, its advertising agency reported Thursday.

In addition to South Florida, Colombians will bring their fusion of styles that mix hip-hop with sounds typical of their land, such as currulao, bambazú and aguabajo, to the cities of Orlando (Florida), Houston (Texas), Chicago (Illinois), Atlanta (Georgia), Boston (Massachusetts), Elizabeth (New Jersey), Washington and New York.

The tour is named after one of the band’s musical hits, “Pa ‘Olvidarte”, a song performed together with Farruko, the Turizo brothers and Zion & Lennox that earned him a Platinum Disc at the beginning of this year in the United States, Mexico , Colombia, Peru and Ecuador.

The topic reached the “Top 50” of the Internet music platform Spotify in 18 countries and, in addition, has more than 150 million views on YouTube, he said in a statement.

With a wide repertoire that includes songs like “Calentura”, “Hasta el techo”, “Somos Pacifico”, “Where I come from” and “Cuando te veo”, ChocQuibTown will tour the United States with its mix of urban sounds.

In 2018 the group released their most recent album “Sin miedo”, with the participation of artists such as Nicky Jam, Carlos Vives, Alexis Play and Wisin.

Gloria Goyo Martínez, percussionist Carlos “Tostao” Valencia and Miguel “Slowmike” Martínez, “an autodidact of electronic rhythms”, make up this winning band of two Latin Grammy awards and two Anglo Grammy nominees.

With “Where I come from” he won in 2010 in the category of “Best alternative music song” and with “El mismo” he was awarded in 2015 for “Best tropical fusion album”.

ChocQuibTown, whose name refers to the town of Quibdó, in the Colombian department of Chocó, has become one of the groups in its country with the greatest international projection.

During its 19 years on stage, ChocQuibTown has brought the rhythm and sounds of the Colombian Pacific to thirty countries including India, Australia or Estonia.
