The saga “Star Wars” will premiere three new films in 2022, 2024 and 2026

Los Angeles, – The science fiction saga “Star Wars” will release three new movies in the months of December 2022, 2024 and 2026, Disney announced today in a statement.

We still do not know the title or the plot of those films that will arrive in theaters coinciding with the Christmas holidays, a period usually reserved for the big movie premieres and the films that promise to sweep the box office.

Between the projects of “Star Wars” in development they appear a new trilogy to the orders of Rian Johnson, the director of “Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi” (2017), as well as other three films on this same universe of science -fiction by David Benioff and DB Weiss, who are the creators of the hit series “Game of Thrones”.

For now it is not known if the three films announced today as “Star Wars” correspond to one of those projects under development.
The saga devised by George Lucas will premiere in December “Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker”, a film that closes its third trilogy and that, under the direction of J.J. Abrams, includes in its distribution to Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega and Óscar Isaac.

On the other hand, Disney, which closed last March the acquisition of 21st Century Fox, revealed today that the four sequels of “Avatar” (2009) that is preparing James Cameron will be released later than expected.

Thus, the new launch plan of the “Avatar” films, which already accumulate several delays, stipulates that “Avatar 2” will be released in December 2021.

As with “Star Wars”, Disney will try to take advantage of “Christmas” with “Avatar” so that in 2023 it will release “Avatar 3”; in 2025 it will launch “Avatar 4”; and in 2027 he will present “Avatar 5”.
With 2,788 million dollars raised, “Avatar” is the highest grossing film in history in the world without taking inflation into account.

However, “Avengers: Endgame” (2018) could soon beat that mark, since in just two weeks on the big screen has added 2,189 million that have placed it as the second most successful film of all time.

Apart from “Star Wars” and “Avatar”, Disney detailed today that in December 2020 will be released both the new “West Side Story” by filmmaker Steven Spielberg, and the film “Cruella”, with Emma Stone as the villain of ” 101 Dalmatians “.

In addition, “The New Mutans”, a film of the saga “X-Men” with Maisie Williams and Anya Taylor-Joy, which has been delayed numerous times, now appears to premiere in April 2020. (EFEUSA).
