“I drew Bart in five minutes on a napkin, yes,” confessed the creator of the series, Matt Groening, who claimed to have designed the main characters of The Simpsons on a sofa while waiting to meet with James L. Brooks, one of the producers .

On the stage of the theater of the New York Performing Arts Center of Tribeca, where the event was held, Groening and Brooks, along with two other producers, Al Jean and Matt Selman, and Harry Shearer, who gives voice to several of the characters , they answered questions from the actress Yeardley Smith, who plays Lisa.

She was one of the protagonists of the night, who could not help holding back the tears when asked what it had meant to her to have put voice to the sister of Bart Simpson for three decades.

“(Lisa) is one of my favorite characters of a lifetime, and it would be like that even if I did not interpret it,” said Smith visibly moved, describing her as “multi-faceted, interesting, complicated and one of the best characters that have been never created. “

Smith also confessed that the dubbing of cartoon characters was never something she set out to do professionally and therefore did not even have a manager for it, but the producers said they never doubted that she would be Lisa’s voice.

As for the future of the series, producer Al Jean said that “families in the US increasingly have to face more problems,” something that provides creators with “more than enough material” to write new episodes.

The creators, producers and actors also affirmed that they would like in the next episodes to include characters such as the football player Sammie Coates, the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, the actors Robert De Niro and Dwayne Johnson “The Rock” , and to the president of the United States, Donald Trump.

Towards Trump, precisely, the panel participants showed their disapproval on more than one occasion, which, among other things, they stated that it causes them insomnia.
