Jaume Collet-Serra will direct a new version of “Victory”

Los Angeles, .- The Spanish filmmaker Jaume Collet-Serra will direct for the Warner Bros. studio a new version of the classic military and sports film “Victory” (1981), reported today the specialized media The Wrap.

Directed by the master of the big screen John Huston, “Victory” took the epic war of the Second World War to the world of football to confront in a party prisoners of war in a concentration camp against Nazi soldiers.

The cast of “Victory” included movie stars such as Michael Caine, Sylvester Stallone or Max von Sydow, but also football figures such as Pelé, Bobby Moore, Osvaldo Ardiles or Paul van Himst.

Gavin O’Connor and Anthony Tambakis are the scriptwriters of the “remake” that will be directed by Collet-Serra, who already knows what it is like to treat football in movies thanks to his film “Goal II: Living the Dream” (2007) .

The Barcelona has established itself as an important name in Hollywood in recent years and in July 2020 will premiere “Jungle Cruise”, a Disney film that features in his cast with Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt and Paul Giamatti.

Collet-Serra also signed Latino artists like Venezuelan Édgar Ramírez, Verónica Falcón from Mexico and Quim Gutiérrez and Dani Rovira from Spain.

In American cinema is well known the fertile alliance within the action genre that this director established with Liam Neeson, with whom he worked in “Unknown” (2011), “Non-Stop” (2014), “Run All Night” (2015) ) and “The Commuter” (2018).

His filmography also includes the tapes “House of Wax” (2005), with Elisha Cuthbert and Paris Hilton in his cast; Orphan (2009), with Vera Farmiga as star; and “The Shallows” (2016), whose cast led Blake Lively.

Looking ahead, Collet-Serra is linked as a director to a project to bring to the cinema the tragedy of Waco (Texas) in 1993, where some 80 members of the sect of the “Davidians” died in an apparent collective suicide occurred in a Ranch. (EFEUSA)
