The National Weather Service (SNM) of San Juan issued a coastal flood warning today until 6 pm (22.00 GMT) today, high swell until 0600 (10.00 GMT) tomorrow, Friday, and strong currents until Friday night for the north of Puerto Rico and the island of Saint Thomas.
According to the agency in a press release, coastal flooding will occur on the north coast of Puerto Rico, due to the strong waves expected today between 12 and 16 feet (between 4 and 5 feet), which in turn could cause coastal erosion.
The high swell warning means that the swell will affect the safety of the bathers, as they can cause coastal erosion and bring down a person.
Strong currents, according to the SNM, can put bathers at risk, especially those who practice water sports. (EFEUSA) .-
