A suspected Palestinian attacker was shot dead today when he tried to stab a soldier near a settlement in Hebron, in the occupied West Bank, the Israeli military said.
According to the brief military statement, “a Palestinian attacker approached the military checkpoint of the Israel Defense Forces near Kiryat Arba with a knife in his hand.” In response, the troops fired on him, neutralizing him.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed the death of a Palestinian man in the vicinity of the Jewish settlement and social media published photos and video of a man in a mortuary bag being evacuated by the emergency services of the place.
According to Israeli radio station Kan, a preliminary investigation of the incident indicated that the man had been throwing stones at a vehicle in motion a short time before, so he was arrested and interrogated.
Yesterday there was another attempt of attack in the same area, in the settlement of Tekoa, when a Palestinian tried to attack an Israeli with a decorative metal object.
