They find a decapitated and glueless alligator on a Florida highway

Agents from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC) are investigating the finding of a decapitated and glueless alligator on a highway in Palm Bay, on the east coast of the state, a crime that carries a $ 5,000 fine and even five years in jail, local media reported today.

The mutilated animal was found last Monday night on a road in the aforementioned city of Brevard County, where it was thrown without head or tail, as shown by the photos published by the FloridaToday newspaper.

It was a neighbor in the area, Brianna Balogh, who was driving that night to an establishment, who ran into the mutilated alligator in the middle of the road and alerted the police, as did other drivers.

“They had cut off his head and tail, it really disgusted me that there are people who do things like that, they are just animals, they are not aggressive, if you leave them alone, they leave you alone,” said Balogh.

Last April, authorities also found another decapitated alligator in the town of Rockledge, in the same county, but no arrest has yet occurred.

Illegal hunting of alligators is considered a third-degree felony, punishable by up to five years in prison and a $ 5,000 fine.
