Venezuelan survivor to kill in Florida school filed lawsuit

The parents of Anthony Borges, a 15-year-old Venezuelan who was seriously injured in the massacre at a school in Parkland, Florida, today filed a lawsuit against the confessed author of the shooting, Nikolas Cruz.

The lawsuit was filed by Royer Borges and Emely Delfin also against the heirs of Cruz’s adoptive mother, Lynda Cruz, now deceased, and against James and Kimberly Snead, the couple who agreed to let the young man stay at their home from the end of November until February 14, when the shooting occurred.

The Henderson Behavioral Health, Jerome Golden Center for Behavioral Health, and the Mental Health Center in South County, in Broward County, where Cruz, aged 19, received psychiatric assistance, are also mentioned in the lawsuit.

The suit accuses Cruz of assault and assault, while the other parties are accused of alleged negligence.

Roger and Lynda Cruz adopted Cruz and his brother, Zachary, but the father died as they were children and the mother, Lynda, died last November, so both were left in charge of a family friend.

Borges, who on the day of the shooting received five shots while blocking his body with a classroom door to protect other students, claimed that the police and school authorities “failed the students” at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, as well as to the “teachers and parents”.

The boy was discharged from the Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, after nine surgeries and a re-entry due to complications.

Among the points highlighted in the lawsuit are the multiple occasions on which Cruz, a former student of the aforementioned school, staged incidents of a violent nature and showed signs of mental problems from 2012 to 2017.

Thus, in 2012 the adoptive mother herself reported that Cruz had attacked her with the hose of a vacuum cleaner and, during the following year, she reported several more cases of domestic violence, without the Henderson center recommending that the boy be admitted for psychiatric treatment. .

Only in the 2013 school year, Cruz received 26 disciplinary notices. And in 2016, as a student of Marjory Stoneman Douglas, the police was informed that the boy had uploaded photographs to Instagram where he appeared with weapons and pointed out that he planned to “shoot at school”.

Police officers will find Knives and a pistol at Cruz’s home during an inspection and transfer the information to the Broward Police agent in charge of the security of the institute, Scot Peterson.

Finally, Cruz was expelled from school in 2017, after staging a fight.
Nikolas Cruz unleashed what is considered the worst massacre in a school in Florida when on February 14 he entered the secondary school and killed with a semiautomatic rifle fourteen students and three teachers.

Because of this, Cruz, who is under arrest, faces 17 counts of premeditated murder that could carry the death penalty.
