Televisa closes 2017 with an increase of 21.6% in profit for shareholders

The net profit attributable to the shareholders of Grupo Televisa reached 4,525 million pesos (242 million dollars) in 2017, which represented an increase of 21.6% compared to the 3,721 million pesos (199 million dollars) of 2016 .

Net sales decreased 2.1% to 94,274 million pesos (5,041 million dollars) in 2017 compared to 96,287 million (5,149 million dollars) in 2016, a decrease that the company attributed to the reduction of revenues from content and advertising.

And is that advertising sales were reduced 10.8% to 20,719 million pesos (1,108 million dollars), detailed today Televisa Group in its report of results for the fourth quarter and all 2017.

Despite this setback, the television company managed to close 2017 with a net profit of 6,578 million pesos (352 million dollars) and a growth of 23.3% over the previous year.

The corporate expenses of the company during the past year increased 3.8% to 2,291 million pesos (123 million dollars), while financial expenses decreased 44.3% to 5,305 million pesos (284 million dollars).

The company also highlighted an increase of 1,557 million pesos (83 million dollars) in depreciation and amortization, and an increase of 1,402 million (75 million dollars) in income taxes.
