Some 311,000 people in Texas have applied for help from the government by Harvey

Vice President Mike Pence said 311,000 cyclone victims in Texas have already applied for aid to the government.

“We are here today, we will be here tomorrow and we will be here every day until we rebuild this city and this state bigger and better than ever before,” said Pence, who today visited part of the area affected by Harvey, but not Houston .

The vice president also expressed the desire of the Government of Donald Trump that the Congress “work fast” to approve the economic aid to the citizens and businesses affected by the disaster.

Pence also took advantage of his trip to Texas to confirm that Trump and First Lady Melania will be back in the region on Saturday as the White House had advanced.

The White House said Trump, already in Texas on Tuesday, hopes to return Saturday to visit the hardest hit area and meet some of those affected by the flood.

The floods in Texas, the largest in US history, have left more than 30,000 evacuees and about 40 dead for the time being, although there are fears that the number will continue to rise. EFEUSA
