Six leaders from the private and non-governmental sector in Latin America and the US were awarded today with the Bravo Awards, given by the Americas Society / Council of the Americas (AS / COA) and after a symposium that was held in Miami.
“(The winners) represent the best of both public and private leadership in the hemisphere,” said Susan Segal, president and CEO of the Americas Society / Council of the Americas (AS / COA), which is organizing these awards for the second year.
The 23rd edition of these awards recognized the most successful stories of business achievement and public policy in the Americas during a ceremony held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Miami.
Previously announced, the winners this year were the Mexican José Ángel Gurría, general secretary of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), who received the Legacy Award.
Horst Paulmann, founder and president of the Chilean retail group Cencosud, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Fernando González, general manager of the cement company CEMEX, won the CEO Award (executive director) of the Year.
María Fernanda Mejía, senior vice president of Kellogg’s company and president of Kellogg’s Latin America, received the CEO of the Year Dynamic Award.
Similarly, Ed Bastian, CEO of Delta Air Lines, who was not present at the event, and Andrés Conesa, CEO of Aeroméxico, shared the Visionary Leadership Award, while Jorge Pérez, Chairman and CEO of Related Group, did not either. The awards were the corollary of the Council of the Americas Symposium held today in this city of Florida with the participation of 400 business leaders, governments, multilateral institutions and non-governmental organizations, and organized in partnership with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) ).
The symposium highlighted the need for Latin America to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by technology to achieve the economic and social dynamism that the region needs to take off.
“This revolution is changing the world and it is unstoppable, whether you join it or step aside,” the IDB president said in the central speech of the symposium when talking about the technology and innovations that he is bringing to all. the orders.
Susan Seagal indicated that both the symposium and the Bravo Awards perfectly summarize “our mission to promote cooperation and integration in one of the most dynamic and promising regions of the world.”
