The United States recommends its citizens not to travel to Spain due to the situation of the pandemic

The health authorities of the United States have urged their citizens not to travel to Spain due to the contagion situation that the country is experiencing in the framework of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have included Spain in ‘Level four’ considering that there is a “very high level of COVID-19”.

“If you must travel to Spain, make sure you are fully vaccinated before traveling. Due to the current situation in Spain, even fully vaccinated travelers may be at risk of contracting and spreading COVID-19 variants,” the US authorities have remarked.

Likewise, the CDC has called on travelers who come to the peninsula to follow the usual recommendations, such as the use of a mask or distance between people.

Thus, as of this Monday, Spain joins ‘Level four’ along with other European territories, such as Gibraltar, Finland, Monaco or San Marino.

Before these, the CDC had already recommended not to travel to more than thirty countries, among which are the neighboring nations France, Portugal and Andorra, as well as Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Russia or Denmark, among others.

The autonomous communities have notified the Ministry of Health this Monday 79,704 new cases of COVID-19, 9,993 of them diagnosed in the last 24 hours; and 85 new deaths have been added.

The total number of infections in Spain already rises to 5,535,231 since the start of the pandemic, according to official statistics, while 88,793 people have died since the virus reached the country.
