The coronavirus pandemic already leaves more than 4.8 million deaths in the world

The coronavirus pandemic has exceeded the threshold of 4.8 million deaths worldwide, according to data collected by Johns Hopkins University, which has indicated that the total number of cases is close to the 235 million barrier.

The center has indicated on its website that to date 234,922,304 infections and 4,801,753 deaths have been confirmed, including 270,457 cases and 3,792 deaths during the last 24 hours, with the United States as the most affected country in total figures, with more of 43.6 million positives and 701,000 deaths.

India is in second place, with about 33.8 million infections and 449,000 deaths, while behind is Brazil, with about 21.4 million positives and about 598,000 deaths.

The university has indicated that the United States is also the most affected country in total figures during the last 28 days, with more than 3.6 million cases and 52,000 deaths during this period.

In second place is the United Kingdom, with more than 927,000 cases and 3,785 deaths, while behind is India, with 786,000 positives and 80,000 deaths, and Turkey, with 710,000 cases and 6,300 deaths.

China, the country where the pandemic originated, has confirmed 108,555 cases and 4,849 deaths, including 1,343 infections and one death in the last 28 days, according to data published by Johns Hopkins University.
