Kremlin rejects Biden’s “lousy” statements about Putin

It emphasizes that “it is evident” that Biden “does not want to normalize relations with Russia”

The Russian Presidency on Thursday rejected the “lousy” statements by US President Joe Biden about his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, whom he accused of interference in the last elections in the North American country and called him a “murderer”.

“I do not want to elaborate on the subject. I will only say that the statements of the president of the United States are terrible,” said Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskov. “It is clear that he does not want to normalize relations with Russia and we will start from it from now on,” he said.

Likewise, he has avoided commenting on whether Putin would respond in person to the comments made by Biden. “I did not know to say for sure,” said Peskov during his daily press conference, according to the Russian news agency Sputnik.

Biden’s statements led Moscow to call its ambassador in Washington, Anatoli Antonov, for consultations to analyze the future of bilateral relations, as confirmed by the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zajarova.

Bilateral tensions have increased again after US intelligence on Tuesday identified Russia among the countries that allegedly tried to interfere in the November 2020 elections, in which Biden ended up prevailing, accusations rejected from Moscow.

Biden has adhered to the thesis of his intelligence agencies and in an interview with the ABC chain said that Putin “will pay the price” for the alleged interference. Also, he went further and when asked whether Putin is a “murderer”, he said he believed that he “has no soul” and nodded: “Yes, I do.”
