Kingston, Jamaica.- Jamaica and the Dominican Republic propose for this year 2020 to sign agreements and memorandum of understanding on issues of common interest through which they seek to strengthen existing relationships.
To this end, the Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Holness, received in his office the Ambassador of the Dominican Republic, Félix R. García Taveras, who highlighted the interest of the Government and the Dominican people to further strengthen the existing relations between both Caribbean nations .
This appreciation of Ambassador García Taveras was corroborated by the Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Holness, who in his social networks wrote: “I sat down with Mr. Félix García Taveras, the designated Ambassador of the Dominican Republic in Jamaica.
Jamaica and the Dominican Republic have mutual interests in strengthening trade, investment and cooperation relations, to create more employment opportunities and economic growth. ”
In another message, Andrew Holness explained that “I also hope to continue collaborating with the Dominican Republic in areas such as sports, culture and education.”
On his side, the Dominican Ambassador Félix García, explained that in this meeting, the ties of friendship between both countries were highlighted, as well as the mutual interest of continuing to strengthen the cultural exchange, cooperation and commercial and investment relations, which allow create more jobs and greater economic growth.
In addition, he transmitted a message of Welfare to Prime Minister Holness and the people of Jamaica, sent by President Danilo Medina, and highlighted the contributions made to Jamaica, Dominican companies that contribute to the development and reduction of unemployment.

On one of those occasions, both dignitaries met in the National Palace, headquarters of the Central Government of the Dominican Republic, with the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Eng. Miguel Vargas Maldonado.
In this meeting, various topics related to the exchange of experiences in tourism, education, investment opportunities, as well as knowing the social programs executed by the first lady’s office in favor of children with differentiated abilities were discussed.
Subsequently, in the city of Montego Bay, Jamaica, within the framework of the Conference on Employment and Inclusive Growth: Alliance for Sustainable Tourism, Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holnes offered a lunch in honor of President Danilo Medina Sánchez, who was in Jamaica for the occasion.
The Dominican Ambassador to Jamaica, Felix Garcia Taveras, said that his meeting with the Prime Minister of this country is a reaffirmation of the interest of the Government of President Danilo Medina and the Dominican people to further improve and strengthen relations between the two countries .
