12-3. Acuña Jr. imposes his hitting power and Soroka from the mound

Atlanta (USA), .- The Venezuelan center fielder Ronald Acuña Jr. hit one of the three home runs that the Atlanta Braves won by beating the New York Mets 12-3.

Acuña Jr. (17), who went 5-3 with one run scored and two RBIs, threw the ball out of the park in the first inning and opened the explosive batting of the Braves that overwhelmed the Mets pitching, which they could never brake.

While starter Mike Soroka won his eighth consecutive decision, Ozzie Albies fired a home run and drove in four runs, and the resurgent Braves are already more leaders in the Eastern Division of the National League.

Nick Markakis hit a two-run single to break the game in the fifth inning, and Eastern leaders improved their mark in June to 13-3, the most prominent in the majors this month.

Atlanta, which scored 15 runs a day earlier against the Philadelphia Phillies, has totaled 90 runs to win 10 of its last 11 games.

Soroka’s winning streak is the longest in the majors by a pitcher under 22 years since Dontrelle Willis won the same number of games with the Florida Marlins in 2003.

Soroka (8-1) allowed three runs and six hits, and received just his third homer in 12 starts this year, a solo shot by Dominican Robinson Cano in the sixth inning. He walked one and struck out two in six innings.

The defeat was for Zack Wheeler (5-5) accepted five runs – four clean – and 10 hits in six innings.

Despite the defeat, the Mets’ Latin batting had the support of the Canó Dominicans, who went 4-1 with one run scored and one produced and Amed Rosario 4-2 with two runs. (EFE)
