Mexican actress Edith González dies at age 54 victim of cancer

Mexican actress Edith González died of ovarian cancer that was detected three years ago, reported Thursday friends of the deceased and the Televisa network.

“Regrettably, the actress Edith González died early today as a result of the cancer she suffered,” Televisa Espectáculos reported, a communication group that the actress had long been linked to.

Gonzalez, 54, had been hospitalized on Wednesday night due to complications of the disease and, according to information leaked to the media, her family members decided to disconnect her from the medical devices that kept her alive.

In 2016, the actress decided to retire from the stage for a while to devote time to treatment for ovarian cancer that was diagnosed that year.

A year later, Gonzalez announced that he had overcome the disease. However, in April of this year, it was said that he had suffered a relapse so he had to stop working again.
After the death of the interpreter, some colleagues showed their sadness through social networks.

“Güera we are going to miss you! There is no pain harder than the one that your mom is feeling, which I embrace with a lot of love,” wrote actress Leticia Calderón, who is very close to the deceased.

Edith González was born in 1964, in the northern state of Nuevo León. He began his career as a child actress in the 70s in films with supporting roles.

Later it became a benchmark of Mexican soap operas thanks to its participation in plots like “The rich also cry” (1979), “Wild Rose” (1987), “Monte Calvario” (1986) and “Wild Heart” (1993) ).

In addition, he starred in other successful melodramas such as “Nunca te olvidaré” (1999), “Salomé” (2001) and “Doña Bárbara” (2008).

In 2004 González had a daughter with the politician of the conservative National Action Party (PAN) Santiago Creel, who recognized the relationship and his daughter in 2008.

Years after he married businessman Lorenzo Lazo, with whom he shared his last years of life.
